What differences between the original and version 1 and 2?

“Chatzky commissioned a study of 5,000 individuals and uncovered four distinct money types: the wealthy, the financially comfortable, the paycheck-to-paychecks, and the further-in-debtors. So what's the difference dividing rich from poor? The wealthy possess traits like optimism, resilience, grit, and curiosity, as well as habits like reading every day and expressing gratitude. "The good news is, everyone can learn to do these things."

The above is an extract from Reader's Digest. I put the initial sentence in the different ways like the following:

1. Chatzky commissioned a study of 5,000 individuals, uncovering four distinct money types…

2. Commissioning a study of 5,000 individuals, Chatzky uncovered four distinct money types…

As natives of English, can you tell me in detail what differences between the original and version 1 and 2? Are version 1 and version 2 both integrated with the rest of the extract? It’s been puzzling me for a long time. Thanks for your help?
