What did you learn from this course as regards the tasks of class observation, lesson planning, and micro-teaching? What actions will you take to improve your teaching abilities in the future?

Teaching Practice 3 literally is a process which offers experienced teachers and novice teachers a practical environment. I, an English Teacher who has 2 years of teaching experience, specially feel and build myself a necessary technique to a long-term career as professional teaching. After completion of the course taking place at both University of Social Sciences and Humantities and Trung Vuong High School, I saw a vision of my own bright future. While I did class observation from different lecturers, lesson plan from my skills, and micro - teaching with my team, my experience eventually was much gained, further, I learn from different styles of teaching of class teachers, how they do lesson plan, and how their micro teaching works in class.


With the three class observations from three lecturers at Trung Vuong High School, all of them meet the need of teaching ethic, and qualification. The first lecturer who concentrated a lot on students’ practical outcomes in listening class. Typically, they asked their students to have a presentation as the warm-up of unit Should we share our secret wishes?. At the beginning of the unit, a random picker had been used to coincidentally call students name to give their speeches. Students throughout the class practised well four English skills just as speaking, reading, writing and ending up with communication. The second lecturer who is competent in English technique for Reading – Writing B1, since they did not fully disclose entire grammar rules to their students, but they also well prepared materials pertaining to their academic teaching. The observers as an illustration just like me and my classmates were beforehand distributed papers as lesson plan, syllabus, course curriculum before the lesson was got started. Plus, the lecturer also explained well grammar points which are available in level B1 in order that the students are able to grasp the fact of the point. Otherwise, the last lecturer started the unit with the softer tone of teaching when he inspects in advance the students knowledge with Grammar B2 in order to students are able to enhance their speaking skills. In detail, the lecturer of Grammar B2 asked students to give the definition of As, give another sentence using gerund, and sometimes they can raise their opinion by speaking. The three classes that I observed, are the chances to gain, I surely will collect their teaching styles, as each lecturer will have distinct strengths and various perfomances.


Once my class obsevation is done, part in which I joined to handle is lesson planning, this process requires members’ harmony combination of whole team. First, my team and I planned for unit which are going to be taught. Next, Grammar B2 is a chosen level we took when teaching B2 students. The coursebook with the name Grammar Explorer 3, which is hard to find online, finally is chosen to make a lesson plan. Noun clauses is the topic as we seslected between both Noun clauses and Reported Speech in unit 14. Lesson plan is not a strange thing for me because I, stand as an English Teacher position, for over 2 years, acutually handle it well. It is a process that every teacher including novice and experienced ones need before getting into a class. Lesson plan contains all things of thoughts which a teacher can teach well and reach their desired goal. Besides, it also helps learners meet their education goals, and if a teacher is under a lesson plan’s assistance, they can manage well time of classroom or they can get it back on track if they are distracted while they are teaching. Some more things which are sufficient for the lesson plan is the objectives and appendices. The objectives is scale to measure how students are able to achieve after completion of the course, and the appendices is part to see homeworks, activities, or answer keys in a unit. The importance of the lesson plan could not be denied as a ship which helps to take the teacher and the learners to the edge of achievement.
