What did you do/you did

Hi

I want you to write about the most important things. What happened and what did you do. What places did you visit?

--- Shouldn't it be "What happened and what you did" or maybe "what you were doing"?

So, "what did you do" in the original sentence is fine?
At first I thought it should be "what you did". Just like: Tell me what happened and what you did. Or: Write what happened and what you were doing/what you did.

Yes, it's correct. The difference is whether you are actually asking the question or relating what was said.
What did you do? ~ I know what you did!
