What did they say?

Dear teachers,

The song "Carry on till tomorrow" from Babfinger is really nice. I want to know if the first expression of the following song is "In younger days..." or "In lonely days".

I hear "lonely" but almost all lyrics web sites says: "younger".

I'd like a very well trained ear to tell me what they say in the song.

You can find the song here:

Hello Renan, I hear "lonely" too. It may be that some other version of the song has "younger", though. Best wishes, MrP

Don't know that I have a "very well trained ear", but I also hear "lonely".
