What daughters would...

Could anyone please explain what the sentence in bold mean? I couldn't get it.

Father -You can spend the summer working in a pet shop. We can play Yahtzee and watch movies at night.

Daughter -Dad, what fantasy is it that's going through your head right now?
Father- What daughters would do their whole lives if I had my way.

What the father says is not a complete sentence. The complete sentence would be eg The fantasy that's going through my head right now is what daughters would do their whole lives if I had my way . He means that he wishes she would always stay home with him.
