What college are you attending?

I wonder what it means by "what college are you attending"?

Does it mean "what college are you studying"? I always used to say this. I never heard about "attending" before.

The verb "to attend" is often used with going to school, especially primary education.

"Where do you study?" is a more common question for someone in college.

For someone in high school, a more common question would be "where do you go to school?"

As a side note, I believe the question word "which" is more appropriate for the question: "Which school do you attend?"
