Hi CJ

I edited my post. Would you please take a look at it? And by the way I got it's north, but I mean what kind of place is a wood job? Is it a place like a carpentry?

Oh, I see. You want to know what a wood job is, not where it is.

I can't determine from the context what a wood job is, but as you say, it could be something like carpentry. It could also be a job chopping wood or something to do with forestry, like chopping down trees. I think this latter idea is the more likely, as California has a large lumber industry.

"tuk to the hills" is a corruption of "took to the hills", which typically means "went away where no one could find them", "disappeared from the scene".

In this case the text explains exactly what the writer means. "tuk to the hills" in this text means "went back to Tennessee". But then later they returned to California again.

Thank you so much. I'm really sorry for asking much. Waht about tuk to the hills? As it was in my edited post.

I hope the context will help.

Oops, I saw it late. Sorry again.

You have to be more patient.

When I'm answering your second question, I can't see what you wrote in your first question, so I have to go back and reply to the first question.

In the future it would be better to copy the relevant parts of the first question into the second post so that those who answer can see what you're talking about while they reply.
