Are these sentences natural and do they carry the same meaning? Any other suggestions are welcome.

I think you mean 'expense'. None of them is right, Tom, because the preposition is not. 'Outgoings' is a new word for me, one I would associate with neighborhood travel.

None of them is right, Tom, because the preposition is not. 'Outgoings' is a new word for me, one I would associate with neighborhood travel. I'd call these the natural synonymies:
