What are the rules for adding "able" to verbs that end in "e"?
For example why in comparable the "e" is removed but in cloneable the "e" isn't removed?

Hi It's one of those things where there's no definite rule in English. I've been a native speaker for sixty years and, even yesterday, I had to check whether it's 'useable' or 'usable'. (It's the second of those).
