2. Why are you racking your brains so hard about the easy question?
3. Why are you racking your brains so hard with the easy question?
I wouldn't say those prepositions are all wrong, but in my experience the usual preposition with 'rack your brain(s)' is over . Saying ' the easy question' instead of ' an easy question' suggests that one of the questions is known to be easy. Clive
