What are the advantages and disadvantages of online shopping?

It is true that online shopping has been in vogue in various countries. While this trend may have several drawbacks, I would argue that it is beneficial for individuals who purchase products by means of computers or mobile phones to some extent.

On the one hand, the tendency of shopping on the Internet might have a large number of tremendous impacts on its purchasers. Firstly, there is a high risk of fraud; in particular, criminals are more likely to use online selling sites in order to steal people’s money via their credit card details. To take my mother as an example, because of her carelessness, she had provided retailers with her personal information involving her bank account and her date of birth before examining their reliability and security. Therefore, a sum of money was withdrawn from her account. Secondly, it is clear that shoppers tend to make unnecessary purchases because they could not resist the temptation of advertisements which might tease their customers with dreamy pictures. This would lead to their undesired waste of money and even great regret afterwards.

On the other hand, an increasing number of inhabitants are in favor of shopping through social media sites. First, it is straightforward for people to research into commodities, meaning that they could find previous buyers’ reviews and their first-hand experiences, which would contribute to their effective decisions. For example, when ordering some items on Shopee – an online shopping platform, I was fortunate to possess an authentic lipstick because of the reliable evaluations from the Shopee app’s earlier customers. Second, it would give people opportunity to shop 24/7 and they might not be required to go to physical stores. This is more likely to help saving a great deal of time for those whose busy lifestyles can prevent them from visiting the supermarkets and shopping centers on a regular basis. With the touch of my fingertips, a wide range of products could be bought and delivered to their own home as soon as possible.

In conclusion, while there are some ramifications of purchasing goods on the Internet, I believe that this trend would bring increasingly valuable results.
