I just read somewhere that people on Atkins lose weight on high-fat, no-carbohydrate diets without any increase in bad cholesterol. One of my American friends lost many pounds on the Atkins diet. I couldn't abide it myself. I love carbos too much.

I just don't see how the Atkins diet could be healthy. I have a friend who's lost weight on it, and he recently had his cholesterol level

Not quite. It is a low-carbohydrate diet. The carbohydrate part is most usually in the form of vegetables. There is no requirement
