What are non-continuous verbs? and why they are not used in continuous tense?n

examples-
in reference to past-The motorcycle had been belonging to George for years before Tina bought it. Not Correct
The motorcycle had belonged to George for years before Tina bought it. Correct

in reference to present- Sam has been having his car for two years. Not Correct
Sam has had his car for two years. Correct

Non-continuous verbs (also called non-progressive) verbs are, by definition, verbs that do not occur in the continuous tenses. They do not occur in the continuous tenses because they are already continuous in their meaning. CJ
