** Company sells features, conversions and upgrades for installation on machines.

Can "conversion" and "upgrade" be sold? I wonder why? Is conversion here meant a thing, rather than the action of converting?

How about upgrade? Is it meant an upgraded software? And concerning feature, is it meant a function or functionality here?

Can "conversion" and "upgrade" be sold? Yes. If I pay for a conversion, I would expect to get some method, perhaps in the form of software, of converting my product to some other form. If I buy an upgrade, I would expect to receive either an upgraded product or something., again probably in the form of software, that I can use to upgrade my existing product.

And concerning feature, is it meant a function or functionality here? Yes.

You might like to note that the noun 'software' cannot be counted. You can't say a software, three softwares, etc. Say some software, a piece of software, three pieces of software, etc.

We also commonly speak of a software package, three software packages, etc.
