0 I think you are cot-caught merged? Although it's hard to tell from that passage. If you are then that means you are probably from the West, the North Central, or perhaps the Midlands.

  • Do you have the cord-card merger?
  • It sounded like it when you said "hard" and "harder" consitently like "hord" and "horder", but you could have a vowel shift that shifts ar->or so it might not be the merger.

00Thanks for the input. I work at a call center who make calls to all over America regularly and lots of people try to guess my accent. They're usually wrong (I've even gotten Indian, French and English O_o) so I've gotten very interested in the way I sound recently.010id1

0 Wow, interesting. Do many Calgarians pronounce "sorry" as "sari" and "tomorrow" as "tomahrow"? Interestingly enough, I met someone from Calgary that had those pronunciations, but they had also lived in California, so I just assumed they had picked it up from there. 0-

0 Also, it's interesting you say that I didn't have the Canadian raising in "about." I find that I tend to not have it whenever I make a conscious effort to pay attention to my pronunciation, which could explain why you didn't hear it when listening to what I read. When speaking normally, I sometimes catch myself pronouncing certain words with Canadian raising after saying them. I'm not really s
