What about your opinion?

I read this sentence below in a book on English Grammar.

#1- Brad married a famous singer.
      (Verb Transitive )

#2- Mr. & Mrs.Johnson married off all their daughters.
                           (Verb Intransitive)

then I started to see whether marry in the #2 is Verb Intransitive or not.

Of course , I was finding married off in the dictionary but I couldn't in it.
Instead of it , I discovered the example  to give me a hint about that structure in the part of "Verb Transitive" .

eg. Linda's father married her off to Bill

As I saw the example , It could remind me for the sturcture of #2.

Replaceing #2 like this,
#2- Mr. & Mrs.Johnson married all their daughters off ( to somebody- Skipping)
-> #2- Mr. & Mrs.Johnson married off all their daughters.

so , I think we should call married of  #2 as Verb Transitive.

Are you with me or against me?

ljswave I think we should call married off #2 as Verb Transitive. Yes, we should. I don't know where the author of your English Grammar book got the idea that married off is intransitive, but that's not correct.
