what about this sentence?

Though I am young, I am just tall.

Adding 'just' seems awkward to me. But is it ok to use 'just' if I want to?

You're right; "just" doesn't work in that sentence. Try, I'm young, but I'm tall. or I'm (rather) tall for my age.
