What a deal.

What a deal.
What does the above sentence mean?

Top answer

It's usually used with an exclamation mark: ! this/that is a good deal. Personally, I would like this construction to fall into complete disuse in English.

It is a nonsensical, illogical construction. It is completely idiomatic, so it's difficult to explain. When spoken to a non-native, it's confusing because the first word makes it seem like a question. It's just my opinion that there are better ways to express the same idea.
