Suppose we have the following sentence about whose subject we want to ask a question: "they play tennis with their friends". Normally, the question should be as follows"who plays tennis with his/ her friend(s)?" Do we really have to mention both possessive adjectives (his/her). And what about the following possibility: "Who plays football with their friends?"
