Wh-Question

Please help me with this sentence. Which one is correct?

1. What do you think is the meaning of the word? or

2. What do you think the meaning of the word is?

I am confused with "is" part. Should it go the way is in # 1 or # 2?

I know that if you say this "simple" question, What is the meaning of the word? the "is" comes right after "what." How can I make sure that I structure these questions, # 1 and # 2, correctly? What should I keep in mind when writing them so I can get them right?

Please let me know.
