Were and are

"Simple polygons are either convex or concave. These two were/are convex polygons because all the diagonals will be inside polygon and this should be a concave polygon because some of the diagonals will be outside the polygon."

I think both are feasible, am I right?

ILE I think both are feasible were is distinctly odd, I'd say. Be sure you have the right context for using were . If in doubt, use are .
