It's OK, but "John went out", full stop, is slightly abrupt and lacking in information. It would be nice to know where he was going and what he was doing. For example, "John went to meet his friends in the park."

Vincent, I'm pretty sure that there have been at least two threads that you have posted in which we've said that when you refer to the morning, or the afternoon, it's not a sunny DAY.
