Went or go?

I know went is past tense but this sentence sounds a little funny to me,

The little girl always brought her dolls wherevere she went.

Is that correct?

What about in...

Sasha's mother would buy a toy for Sasha whenever Sasha went (or goes?) to school.

In second sentence, should I use went or go. Is it past or present tense?

thank you teachers!
