Are both these sentences correct, and do they mean the same:


a) "Given to overspeed, the car went off the road."


b) Given to overspeed, the car ran off the road."

The sentences are unnatural.

The car was being driven too fast and ran off/went off the road,

(Both alternatives are fine after the correction.)
