Went direct to the airport / drove directly to school

Hi teachers,

I found both the sentences from the dictionary. Are "direct" and "directly" adverbs? Thanks

Does "went direct" mean "no stops during the ride?

Does "drove directly" mean you could have "stops" during the ride?

Regards,

They are both adverbs and have the same meaning here. There are probably no stops, but it is also possible to mean 'in a straight line, with no detours'.
