Well, dang...

Thought I would look up Paul Davis, an artist from the 70s, on YouTube. Started finding "in memory of" references. He died on April 22nd of this year.
When I was a teenager or in my early twenties, I drove from Southern California to Montana, straight through. I got to Salt Lake City about 2 AM. Weirdest feeling, driving on a six lane freeway (3 lanes each direction) and not a single car all the the way through the city. Like a ghost town. Reminded me of the following song (by Paul Davis). Whenever I think of that drive I think this song, and vice versa:

Another, much more famous one (recorded by Juice Newton later):

Paul Davis was better known for his later songs, "Cool Night," "Sweet Life" and "I Go Crazy," but I liked his earlier stuff as much if not more.

Timely one:

I wonder if Suzy Elkins knew of him. He was born in Meridian, Mississippi and died there.
Another artist that I enjoyed listening to from this era, Nicolette Larson, died in 1997. I had no clue.
One of my favorites that was recorded by her (I had several favorites):

and (kind of a disco flavor, but it didn't seem like it at the time)...

Afraid to look up any more artists.

I was surprised also. She died of "complications from a cerebral edema."
