Welcome or Come in??

Hi

While visiting the hospital, when we walk into the room where the doctor is seated, does he say -

Welcome Ma'am!

or Please come in, Ma'am!?

I mean - which would be more natural for a native speaker?

(In Tamil, we use the same word for both!)

Please help.

Thank you

Indian doctors might put it that way in the U.S.

But the most natural way would be:

Doctor: Hello Mrs. X, please come in.

But it also depends on the the relationship of the patient to the doctor. If there is a close relationship, a doctor may say, e.g.:

Doctor: Hello, Mrs. X, how are y
