Weird sentence

Hi there

In fact, business men in the city operate as though their ancestors did a thousand years ago.

Is this sentence OK. Something might be missing? Am I wrong?

Thank you. But:

The writer of this sentence says that "as though" means "as if" in this context. What do you think teachers?
