Weird question

hi teachers

Hi,

.................. has been put forward by him is beside the point, we need to come up with the new one.

A) Because that
B) Since which
C) As what
D) Given that
E) The fact whether

I think this sentence is weird. I couldn't find the correct answer. Honestly, I don't have any idea how to solve it. Is this sentence grammatically correct and meaningful?

Thank you.

(C) makes the part before the comma correct ("as" = "because"; "what has been put forward by him" is a noun phrase) The second part doesn't seem to fit properly though. Something like "... we need to come up with a new idea " would work better.
