weekend surprise

0A: How was your weekend?02br
02br
00B: It was one of the best weekends I've ever had. On Friday night, I met with old friends at a bar downtown. We caught up. It was a mixture of funny and akward because we'd talked to each other for almost 2 years. Some have engaged, some married, and some even have kids. The gathering ended only when the bar closed. The next morning, I was a bit hungover. Made scrambled eggs for breakfast and rented a couple of movies which I didn't have a chance to watch because I got a surprise from my family. I thought it was the delivery man when I opened the door. My mom jumped in and gave me a hug. So sweet. We had a cookout to take advantage of the sunny day. The next day, I took my family around the city. It was just great!02br

0Thanks, RayH. I always have this problem. Let me try to understand why. Here's an example02br

00I've got a cake for Jim. (got here means bought or should it be gotten?)0-

0I've got a cake for Jim. = I have a cake in my possession to give to Jim.02br

00I've gotten a cake for Jim. = I have [bought / received / obtained] a cake [to give to Jim / at Jim's request]. 02br
