Weekend

Can someone tell me which of these 2 is correct?

It's weekend. or It's the weekend.

If they both are, what's the difference?

Thanks.

Weekends are countable. They need articles/determiners (unless they are it the plural). The first is not okay, and the second is okay.

Seasons are countable too. Would you say 'It's the summer' instead of 'It's summer'?
