Wedding ceremony vs. Marriage ceremony

Hi

Wedding ceremony

Marriage ceremony

If I had speculated about the frequency in use of the two phrases prior to checking Google Ngrams, my guess would have gone haywire.

https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=wedding+ceremony%2C+marriage+ceremony&year_start=1800&year_end=2000&corpus=15&smoothing=3&share=&direct_url=t1%3B%2Cwedding%20ceremony%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2Cmarriage%20ceremony%3B%2Cc0#t1%3B%2Cwedding%20ceremony%3B%2Cc0%3B.t1%3B%2Cmarriage%20ceremony%3B%2Cc0

Would you say that the two phrases are equally common among native speakers? Are these sentences fully natural?

  1. We missed his wedding/marriage ceremony.
  2. I was not invited to his marriage/wedding ceremony.
  3. When is the wedding/marriage ceremony?

Thanks,

Tom

I almost never hear ether of these phrases. I just hear the word 'wedding'. Try doing an ngram for that.
