Wearing jeans

Question

Hi.I am going to ask about the occations jeans are worn in different countries.As you know, Levi Strauss designed a strong clothing for workmen at first, but it gradually became fashionable and worn by everyone.I have heard that, it is still not considered  formal clothes in America.Some people  think that jeans are still being produced for workmen and one should avoid wearing them if he/she wants to appear as a genteleman/lady in formal occations.  Does it look strange if someone wears jeans on a date or in a wedding party?I would be grateful if you could tell your opinion about wearing jeans in formal parties.To date, I have never seen any politicians from any nationalities with jeans.Thank you very much for your time and help

Not to me here in California. I suspect you'd get the same reaction throughout the U.S.

Here in California people wear jeans almost anywhere. Whether you wear them at an office job depends on the company you work for. As a general rule, office employees of very large corporations don't usually wear jeans. Neither do doctors, lawyers, or teachers - usually. You are more likely to see jeans at companies which have fewer, younger employees.

Yes. That would seem out of place to me, especially if it's a large and elaborate church wedding, though it's not impossible for a very small wedding party at a city hall.

Often you can find out from the host what the expected dress code is for a given party if you're uncertain.
