Weapon(s) VS weaponry

Howdy folks,

I'm wondering about the difference between these two words:

a) weapon(s)
b) waponry

I'd like to use one of them in the following sentence:

In the novel, the Church is therefore one of the responsibles for the rediscovery of nuclear weapon(s)/weaponry.

Thanks,

You'll see in dictionaries that "weaponry" is defined as "weapons considered collectively", "the science of designing and making weapons", and similar. Despite that, the standard form of words is "nuclear weapons", and I don't see any reason to depart from this standard here. In fact, "weaponry" almost makes me imagine someone rediscovering a cache of actual nuclear weapons (which I assume is not what you mean).
