Essay & Composition Writing

Wealthy countries should accept more refugees and provide them with basic assistance such as food and housing. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is sometimes argued that rich nations should welcome more refugees and support them with fundamental needs such as food, shelter and job opportunities. This essay agrees with that statement completely because of the capabilities of helping from rich countries that can easily afford. The essay will first look at why developed ones should open its doors for refugees then discuss how easily they can manage the costs of supporting them.

The first main reason is that welcoming refugees to their nations is not morally acceptable not to do so. In order words, we are human beings and all men are equal so we should stand by one another. Innocent people who are escaping from war zones should not be left behind to suffer death and misery as they do not have anywhere to go. The United Kingdom is a prime example, where a fairly large quantity of asylum seekers from Syrian were taken into the UK since the beginning of Syrian crisis and the majority of them were children and women.

The second main reason is that it seems not a really big matter for affluent nations in handling the costs of helping people fleeing from their own countries where wars and death are taking place. That means humanitarian aid, evacuation centres, accommodation facilities will not create any financial strain or government’s budget. In fact, refugees would contribute to those countries’ economy as extra workforce is provided by them. For instance, Syrian refugees are currently working in some factories and other industrial institutions. As a result, it brings a clurative advantage to the UK.

In conclusion, well off nations should welcome and provide refugees visa and back them up with basic needs as they are sufficiently capable of managing to afford it and it will also boost their economy.
