Hi teacher,
Last week at the beach, we couldn't go in for a dip because we'd left behind our swimsuits at the apartment. I was the one responsible for packing those.
1. "We would have been able to go in if we had brought our swimsuits." said Mya.
2. "We would be able to go in if we had brought our swimsuits." said Mya.
Which one should be chosen?

2. Do we have to backshift the tenses in conditional in reporter speech?
