We were worried about you.

As titled, usually I would say one of the following instead of the titled one:

1. We were worried by you.

2. We worried about you.

So I feel awkward about the titled one. Any comment about this, please?

Not quite what you want to say, IMO: it means you made us worried

I do not understand why "I worried about you" relates to the long-term thing. But, maybe I should just take for granted to use "I was worried about you" everywhere.

Thanks a lot.
