We were in a religious function. And my mom asked the priest isn't there any other formality left?

I guess this is wrong vocabulary

She should have said ritual not formality

As it kinda sounds rude

P.S we're not a native speaker

Hi It sounds OK to me. A religious event or service can be called a function. It involves a number of formalities - prayers, hymns, and so on, in a given order I'm not quite sure what your Mum was saying.

I'm not quite sure what your Mum was saying. If she was complaining that the service did not follow the proper order then, yes, you might say 'Isn't there any formality left?' You could also refer to it as ritual
