We try to get caught up on sleep.

I saw the below sentence in a book.

1. We try to get caught up on sleep.

But in a dictioanary, there's a sentence like the below.

2. I hope to catch up on some much-needed sleep this weekend.

In sentence 1, is the passive voice possible compared to sentence 2 from a dictionary?

Thanks in advance.
