We tie/fast/untie/unfast two threads/strings

I took two pieces of thread(string) and tied it so strongly that later I found it too difficult to untie it.
We fast/tie string of shoe lace while wearing it, and we untie/unfast it when we remove the footwear.
The magician took a piece of lace and tied it in my wrist.

Please correct my sentences and suggest me better versions too. Thank you

Fast/unfast should be fasten/unfasten.

You don't need to say string of shoe lace - just shoelace

I think both thread and string are same generally.

Here is my rephrase :
I took two pieces of threads and tied them so tightly that I could not unfasten/it later.
We tie the laces when we put on shoe, and unfasten/untie it when we take off the shoe.
The magician took a piece of cloth and tied it in my wrist.
