We should use high or dense in this case?

Please help me in this sentence I should use dense or high:
The atmosphere is 350 miles dense/high and is held to the Earth by gravity.

Hi,

Well, if you only have those choices, choose 'high'. But it's not a very suitable word.

I prefer to speak of the atmosphere as being X miles 'thick'.
