Many times during yesterday's evening -- we meet up at a cafe -- X tried to provoke Y by talking about how much he hated Y's unfaithfulness. It really made the rest of us uncomfortable.

I should have said "last evening" Sorry for the silly mistakes.

Let's say "Many times during last evening" has rolled off my tongue, and I want to make clear that my listener know it happens during our meetup in a cafe, can I insert the information like that?

Not necessarily, for me. In fact I checked my dictionary and it gives - happen to meet as a definition.

Every Wednesday we meet up at a cafe - obviously planned.

Last evening sounds very unatural to me. Last night is more appropriate. Yesterday evening is also fine. But 'last evening', very odd.
