Why is #1 correct but #2 incorrect?
1. I look forward to seeing you next week
2. I look forward to this holiday.
I'd say the other way round! With a full stop, #1 would also be okay. I'd use the progressive form for the second sentence, but it's not wrong in the present simple form.
