We have / get a lot of rain

Hello everyone. I have a question.

Regarding the following two sentences:

(A) We have a lot of rain here in Singapore.

(B) We get a lot of rain here in Singapore.

I know both are correct English, but I'm wondering if there's some preference between the two, say, in academic writing. Which should we choose when we work on formal writing? Or are they same difference in such a case, too?
