"We got the afternoon" or "we get the afternoon"

Got is in past. So... when u translate it to spanish. It don't have sense. I'm in trouble becouse i want to know wich is correct. I think is correct say "We get the afternoon" becouse is in present. Explain me please. Also could correct mi gramatical wrongs. Thanks in advance
