Fingers will crack, but I doubt if nails will. We injure our nails when we stumble or trip over something hard. I don't know how to express it in english.

Do you mean when your nail gets "purple"?

Hi,
I'd usually say 'I lost a nail.' (ie it's no longer attached to my finger or toe)

I know the meaning of cracked. What's a torn nail?
