If I want to say: The wrong materials were purchased, or
The materials were purchased by mistake.
And, I don't want to emphasize the action of "purchase" and also of course the agent doing the action, What verb should I use instead? Please advise the full sentence.
Like for example, in stead of saying we remembered the time by mistake, perhaps, it is better to say We got the wrong time (which do not emphasize the verb remember)
Thanks!

We mistakenly got the wrong materials. We got the wrong stuff by mistake. These materials aren't suitable.
