we are just having dinner

Hi teachers ,
I see this sentence in the dictionary and don't understand exactly what it means:
We were just having our dinner
The past continuous used with "just" is quite strange to me .Could you possibly help me understand it ?

There are two possible meanings.
1. I was just having my dinner. I was performing a simple, ordinary action.

You have two different examples -- in your post you ask about "we were just having our dinner," but your subject line is "we are just having dinner." Was that just a typo, or are you interested in that too? I would say that "we are just having dinner" stresses that we happen to be having dinner right at this exact moment. Example: the phone rings.
