We are extremely hot here VS. It's extremely hot here

How English does this sentence sound? "We are extremely hot here"? I know that the person means that the temperature is very high and the weather is scorching. However, it sounds awkward to me. I am not a native speaker and I used to tell "It's extremely hot here". "We are hot" sounds a bit strange in this context. However, can we say that? Thanks in advance for your input.

In the context of talking about the weather, both are possible, but "It's extremely hot here" would be quite a bit more usual.
