We are a family of five or...?

Dear all,

Got a question on the correct word order in this sentence:

are/ five/ family/ a / we/ of

My feeling is that the correct answer would be "we are a family of five".
But I've heard the opinion that it should be "we are five of a family" which does not sound English for me.

Can you please tell me what the correct order is.

Thank you in advance!

I think 'we are family of five' mean we are five members in a family whereas the other sentence would mean that five members from a family(family may have more members) are at some specific place among others.

I haven't heard We are five of a family.

We are a family of five. This is standard, everyday English.

We are five of a family. This would only be correct in some very odd context.

Are we a family of five? This is also correct, but is a very odd question. The speaker should know the answer already.

Hi Clive, thank you for your reply, it's really helpful. I also doubt the effect of such exercises:(, just needed to make sure I am correct in my understanding, This was offered as an exercise in one of the local schools for the child of my friend...
